SUMMARY:World Breastfeeding Week
DESCRIPTION:World Breastfeeding Week is hosted by WABA\, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action. \nIt was a call to action from WABA that started the Ten Steps to a Breastfeeding Family Friendly Community. That framework is what SAFE implements when the weather turns. This week is where our whole line of work begins. \nIt is easy to let an awareness week pass\, and easier still in emergency response\, where the work is measured in deployments and not in observances. But these calls to action\, and the accountability that comes with them\, are the reason any of this is anybody’s business. Take the week. \nWABA publishes a full week of materials and a call to action each year. Follow their lead\, and celebrate it where you are.

SUMMARY:SAFE Support and Strategic Core (S3C)
DESCRIPTION:We convene S3C quarterly for the people doing this work on the ground: the ones writing the plans\, sitting on preparedness committees\, and answering the phone when the water goes out. \nSAFE is the national IYCF-E implementation of Breastfeeding Family Friendly Communities. BFFC is the blue skies strategy\, the slow work of building communities where feeding a baby is everyone’s business. This is the gray skies work\, for the days that strategy gets tested. \nAn emergency does not wait for a community to figure out how babies will be fed. This is where we work through what is actually happening where you are\, what is stuck\, and what the rest of us have already learned the hard way. \nCome with foundational IYCF-E knowledge from training\, coursework\, or response experience.
