Nourishing Resilience #8 – Managing On-the-Ground Response for IYCF-E
May 12 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
In the event of a disaster or other emergency, you may determine that active response is needed. After hurricane Helene, the SAFE Team engaged in an organized, active response beginning within a week after the storm until daily ground operations wrapped at the end of February. Hear from Digital Coordinators Ashley Mickelson and Rachel Fann, and Boots-on-the-Ground Coordinator Melinda Delisle, about how daily operations ran for the SAFE Team.
In this session, we will cover:
- Ways to determine whether or not an active response is needed, and how much of one.
- Levels and types of organization for active response.
- Essential elements for a group response.
- Finding volunteers.
- Types of systems and tools (mostly free and low-cost) to use.
- How remote digital coordinators are a gift to on-the-ground operations and aid smooth functioning.
