World Breastfeeding Week is hosted by WABA, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action.
It was a call to action from WABA that started the Ten Steps to a Breastfeeding Family Friendly Community. That framework is what SAFE implements when the weather turns. This week is where our whole line of work begins.
It is easy to let an awareness week pass, and easier still in emergency response, where the work is measured in deployments and not in observances. But these calls to action, and the accountability that comes with them, are the reason any of this is anybody’s business. Take the week.
WABA publishes a full week of materials and a call to action each year. Follow their lead, and celebrate it where you are.
