VOAD Resources for Infant and Young Child Feeding

Resources for VOAD organizations to support including IYCF-E in their response.

All VOADs that interact with families with children under 3 years of age would benefit from coordinating with local infant feeding specialists or the local or state breastfeeding coalition. More about that below.

For emergency managers and planners

You convene this table rather than sit at it. Your voluntary organizations are usually the ones standing in front of families with babies, and infant feeding almost never has an assigned owner at the coordination table.

Assigning it by title, before the next event, is one line in a plan and it is the change that most affects what actually happens. In the incident command structure this sits under Liaison, and the organizations already at your table need this guidance too. See Emergency Management and Preparedness Coordinators.
