On June 23, Norma Escobar, Clinical Director for the SAFE Team, proudly joined the New Hanover Disaster Coalition for a comprehensive command center simulation designed to streamline coordinated responses when future disasters strike the Cape Fear region.
Formed in the wake of Hurricane Florence, the Coalition works hand-in-hand with Emergency Management, and this latest exercise perfectly embodies the city-wide partnerships that the are vital for true emergency preparation. By collaborating closely with fellow nonprofits, government agencies, local businesses, and the faith community, the SAFE Team is helping to ensure that infant and young child feeding needs are seamlessly integrated into the area’s broader emergency infrastructure. Proactively preparing together before a hurricane hits ensures that everyone is working toward the same ultimate goal: a stronger, more resilient community.
