When a family’s emergency is a house fire, a job loss, or a hospital stay, the baby’s feeding plan isn’t the only thing that falls apart. Someone still has to care for the kids.
The National Emergency Child Care Network, founded by Silke Knebel, provides free emergency child care for any family in a disaster or a personal crisis like a house fire, job loss, or medical emergency. Families fill out a form online and trained volunteers come to them. Most of their volunteers are in North Carolina and Los Angeles, and they try to help families anywhere in the U.S.
