Why Sponsor the SAFE Team & IYCF-E Training?
Founded in response to Hurricane Helene in September 2024, the SAFE Team was created to address a dangerous gap in disaster response: the lack of coordinated care for infant and young child feeding (IYCF).
While humanitarian crises trigger broad health efforts, the nutritional needs of infants—especially those dependent on breastmilk or formula—are often overlooked. This neglect leads to preventable illness and mortality among babies and toddlers.
The SAFE Team works to fill that gap.
Through evidence-based training, advocacy, and direct collaboration with public health and emergency systems, the SAFE Team equips professionals to respond to IYCF needs during disasters. Our work has gained national attention, and our training is now in high demand by:
- Public health departments
- Disaster planners and coordinators
- Hospitals and perinatal care providers
- Lactation and infant feeding professionals
- Community-based organizations
As climate-related emergencies increase, your support ensures this life-saving training is accessible across the U.S. and internationally.
“Nearly 95% of infant and child deaths in emergencies result from diarrhea due to contaminated water and an unsanitary environment.”
— United States Breastfeeding Coalition (USBC)
